THE SENIOR CITIZENS’ CENTER OF OAK PARK AND RIVER FOREST:
THE LIFELONG LEARNING CENTER
414 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park, IL 60302
Chartered in 1954, the SCCOPRF: The Lifelong Learning Center is the oldest senior citizens’ center in Illinois. We provide educational, social and cultural activities for people over the age of 50. Through educational, social, and cultural activities, the Senior Citizens’ Center inspires older adults to continue their quest for lifelong learning, supports their independence, broadens their horizons, and encourages their involvement with the community.
Membership is $50/year and this enables participation in all of our ongoing activities. There is a member discount given for the special workshops we offer periodically, such as Stained Glass. You do not have to live in the villages of Oak Park or River Forest to participate in our activities.
Ongoing activities include: art, ceramics, crafts, weaving, lapidary and jewelry making, woodshop, sewing, language classes, creative writing, drop-in bridge games, creative workshops and duplicate bridge. We also have group travel opportunities.
